Puttur Education Society

Vivekanada College of education is sponsored by the Puttur Education Society ® Puttur. The Society popularly known as PES was established in 1915 by Molahalli Shiva Rao and others with the sole purpose of giving education to the rural poor. The First Educational Institution founded by PES was a high School in the year 1916. The starting of Vivekananda Degree College was a landmark in the history of PES. Thereafter there was no looking back. Within 40 years as many as 22 educational institutions were established. The list includes institutions all stages of education namely primary, Secondary, plus two and professional colleges including an Engineering college.
